Clean & Simple Cardmaking 2: Project 1

Good morning to you!

Well, I'm super excited because I have signed up for another Online Card Class!  These classes really get my mojo flowin' when I need it most!  And because CAS cards are my favorite, you can't beat the ideas and techniques that these ladies share!

On the first day of class (yesterday) we had "homework!"  Yep!
You heard me right.......
HOMEWORK!

At least this kind is fun!  ;-)

We had to use one of the the CAS sketches to come up with a card.  Since I have a good friend needing a birthday card, I took the opportunity to use one of the sketches to make her card.

Since Chevrons are all the rage, I couldn't help but use this for her birthday card.  The inside has a birthday sentiment but what a great little tag for the outside.  I tied in the polka-dot Washi tape to match the polka-dot "YOU."

I'm so excited to be taking this course and it's not too late for you to join in on the fun!
Just click on the class image below!

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
2012 Holiday Tags stamp set
Limitless Layers 2 1/4" Ovals dies
Kaiser Craft patterned paper - Tigerlily
Stamper's Select White cardstock
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black
Rhinestones
Washi tape

I'll be posting lots of cards for this class, so be sure to check back often for the next two weeks!

Thanks for stopping in today!

A Fond Farewell to Skipping Stones Design

Good morning, everyone!

Today I have a special post for a special lady.  As many of you know, Skipping Stones Designs is taking a bit of a reprieve from making and creating some of the cutest, most witty stamps on the market.  Heather (the owner) has too much to juggle right now and has to put SSD on the back burner.

But, because of Heather, I have had the opportunity to be on her DT for several terms and have to say that her generosity to the team went far beyond my expectations.  We always had such awesome stamps to work with.

Heather, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have more time for those things that are so important.  I also hope to see you create again in the future because your stamps ROCK!

To celebrate the success of SSD, we have put together a surprise blog hop in Heather's honor.  So, if you have come from Karen's blog, you are in the right place.

Here's my card using two of my favorite SSD stamp sets.........Grunge and Grunge 2!
Masculine cards are so difficult for me to create, but not with these sets.  All of the awesome manly backgrounds give way to such great textures for your cards.  These are my "go to" stamps for my guy cards!

You are now off to see what the amazing Amy Tsuruta has created using even more SSD stamps!

BTW..........There is still time to purchase many of the SSD stamp sets at a nice discount.  See this post for the PMS sale that is going on with the stamp sets that still remain.  It's a great way to get several sets before they won't be available.

Materials Used:
Skipping Stones Designs - Grunge and Grunge 2 stamp sets
Nestablilities - Standard Circles Small
PTI cardstock - Enchanted Evening, Classic Kraft, Spring Rain and Stamper's Select White
PTI dye ink - Enchanted Evening, Dark Chocolate and Classic Kraft

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

It's a White Out with the Outlawz!

Good morning, everyone!

I'm here with a card and post for the Outlawz!
Since it's Sunday, there is always a challenge going on over there........In fact, there are challenges for every day of the week going on over there, so pick a day and play along with us!

Today's challenge is a "White Out" challenge!
An ode to snow...We are smack in the middle of winter here in the US.  With snow all around, let's celebrate its beauty by creating a card/project that has ONLY white!!!  Your stamping image and sentiment may be colored, but the remainder of the card (base, papers and embellies) must be white!

I just received my PTI release stamp sets and I could NOT wait to use this one.  It's funny because this wasn't even on my radar when we got to see the sneak peeks, but after the DT did their magic with it, I knew I wanted all of it!

I'm not sure if you can tell but I colored the hands of the clock and made a shadow around the clock using Copic markers.  I didn't want to make either to bold or apparent, so the C1 and C00 markers were perfect!

I hope you play along with us this week as I can't wait to see what you create!

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Hands of Time stamp set
Number Time Trio stamp set
Stamper's Select White cardstock
New Leaf and Smokey Shadow dye ink
Misc. Rhinestone
Copic markers - C00/1

I'm also entering this into 2 other challenges this week!
CAS-ual Fridays CFC87 challenge was to "Make Your Mark."  You simply had to use markers on your card.  I did as explained in my caption above.  For the Play Date Cafe #166 challenge, you had to use black, white and a splash of emerald green........so, my card definitely works for their challenge, too!

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

Tea Time Challenge with the Outlawz!

Good morning, everyone!

I'm here with a card and post for the Outlawz!
Since it's Sunday, there is always a challenge going on over there........In fact, there are challenges for every day of the week going on over there, so pick a day and play along with us!

Today's challenge is a "Tea Time" challenge!
January is "Hot Tea Month" and if you are like me you enjoy a cup of hot tea every once in a while.  This week, your challenge is to create a CAS card that features a beverage.  It could be tea, of course......but, coffee lovers, and martini drinkers are also welcomed for this week's challenge!  ;-)

Here's my card for the challenge featuring COFFEE for the beverage of choice!

For the outside of my card, I simply used the border stamp of coffee beans on my glass block, but I curved it and stamped it three times.  I then die cut the center out of the front of the card so that this card became a "peek-a-boo" card.

To go along with the outside sentiment, here's what the inside says.

Here's a look at how the card looks on the outside and when it's opened.

Clean and Simple, yet oh so cute!!!

I hope you play along with us this week as I can't wait to see what you create!

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Market Street Stamps - Perk Up! stamp set
Mat Stack #3 die
Fine Linen cardstock and patterned paper
Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
Versafine ink - Vintage Sepia
Chai ink
Copic markers - E42/43/44 and W3

Have a great Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

Bringing in 2013!!!

Happy New Year!!!

I had to bring in 2013 with an appropriate card!

There is a tiny swirls stamp in the Chic Martini set that I used to make the background.  I did stamp the glass and sentiment first and then placed those all around it using Brilliance ink.  The shimmer perfectly matches the glittery patterned paper.

For this inside sentiment, I had to get a little creative.  I wanted to add the "In 2013" to the main sentiment but I didn't have the word "in."  So, I found the word "Independence" in my Happy Day stamp set and it was the right size, so I just inked up what I needed.  It worked perfectly.

I'm starting off my year by entering my card in the Sweet Stop #191 Sketch Challenge. I've sort of gotten away from challenges toward the end of 2012 and I needed a jump start.  This one was the one that did that for me!
