Tips & Tricks: Mass Producing Christmas cards

Hi, everyone!
Are you beginning to panic because you haven't started your Christmas cards, yet?

I have a great way for you to use up some of your Christmas patterned paper and get started on those holiday cards!

If you are like me, you store all of your scraps of the same paper pad, right in the paper pad itself.
I want you to take out all of those out and slice them down into all kinds of shapes......squares, rectangles, strips.....ALL kinds!
You'll also need to gather several Christmas sentiments. I pulled out all of my SSD Christmas sets (or previews of sets....that's how I catalog them) so that I could pick my favorites.
Find some scrap strips of paper of all different sizes for your sentiments.
Stamp various sentiments on the strips.
Gather all of your Christmas embellishments and have them surrounding your work area so they are at your finger tips. You'll also notice in the photo below that I trimmed down all of those sentiments (on the right side of the picture) so that they had flagtail ends.
You may also want to cut several card bases of various orientations so they are ready to go, too!

Now you are ready to start assembling!
I started reaching for 3 of my patterned paper blocks and just placed them where I thought they would look nice and balanced.
Next, I wanted to add some embellishments and my sentiment.
After everything was laid out, I glued everything down and added some foam dimensionals under the sentiment and some bling in the corner because the card seemed to need something a little bit more.

First card done and many more to go!
After you get into your groove, you'll be mixing and matching before you know it.

Here are the others that I got finished in this same crafty session.

Seven cards and 2 hours later, I have started my Christmas stash! And, the best part......I'm using up that patterned paper that I just had sitting in a drawer!

I hope you try this little technique and jump start your holiday card making!

Peace on Earth Christmas Cards

Good morning, everyone!

I'm back with another card that I made by being inspired by the Christmas Card Workshop!

I have to be honest and say that this is a total CASE except for the sentiment used on the card in the class.  They were so amazingly gorgeous, I just had to.
I just love the little bit of glitter along the right side of the houses and trees in the die cut.  It shows you which way the wind is blowing.....lol

Using non-traditional colors once again for the holiday.  I'm sort of liking these color combinations instead of just red and green!

For this technique you used more masks, but on the base of the card.  Once masked off, you take two colors that you like and color half way on each side until they meet.  You remove the mask and you have a strip of color down the left side.  The only thing I did differently from the original was to change out the background colors for 6 of them.  The original card was the purple and pink one.  I thought an orange-ish, blue sunset would be pretty also.

Thanks for stopping by today and come back soon because I have more Christmas cards scheduled!

Here are the materials I used:
PTI - Signature Christmas
Memory Box die - Country Landscape
Eclipse tape (for masking)
Tim Holtz distress inks - Spiced Marmalade and Broken China (1st pic.)
Tim Holtz distress inks - Concord and Worn Lipstick(2nd pic.)
PTI cardstock - Stamper's Select White
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black
Elements Elements - Crystal rhinestones

Snowflake Christmas!

Good morning, everyone!

I'm back with more Christmas cards featuring SNOWFLAKES!

You may recognize this layout in a set of cards that I featured HERE.   I changed it up and added snowflakes for a different look.  Jennifer McGuire did make a snowflake card in the class tutorial, and I knew I wanted to do one also......but, with slightly different colors.

Again I used one of Nichole's color palette's that she featured on her blog for the October Blog Hop. I also used my Copic Air-Brush system to do the shading around the sentiment and snowflakes rather than blending in distress ink.  I love how they all turned out!

I think this is my favorite sentiment out of all of them!

Although, sending "holiday hugs" is cute, too.

This one will be good for anyone to send.

Perfect cozy sentiment!

Snowflakes are "magic", aren't they?

Another dozen cards finished!  And there are so many lessons of cards that I haven't even finished yet!  Yayyyyyyyy for fresh ideas and this wonderful class!

Thanks for stopping by today and come back soon because I have more Christmas cards scheduled!

Here are the materials I used:
PTI - Snowflake Medley stamp set
PTI - Snowfall stamp set
PTI - Tree Trimming Trio stamp set (sentiment)
PTI - Love Lives Here: Holiday stamp set (sentiment)
PTI - Heart-2-Heart #3 stamp set (heart)
PTI - Love & Marraige stamp set (heart)
PTI - Trendy Trees stamp set (heart)

Gymnastics Mom Bling T-shirt

Hi, everyone!

I've been trying my had at rhinestone T-shirts!!!

This came as a request from a friend and fellow teacher for her to wear to her daughters' gymnastics competition.  I'm loving this 2 color design!

The crystal and hot pink stones against the black shirt really made a great contrast!

If you have any requests for this shirt or another design for your kids' favorite sports, you can contact me here or at my shop.

I can also do custom shirts with the school name.  I've got some great fonts that will look awesome together.

Holiday Card Workshop Day 2

Good morning, everyone!

I'm back with more Christmas cards!!!

Only these are done in some non-traditional colors.  As I mentioned yesterday, I used one of the color palette's that Nichole featured on her blog for the October Blog Hop.  This non-traditional color combination features Melon Berry, Harvest Gold, Berry Sorbet and Spring Moss.  I would have NEVER picked these colors to go together, but they just look awesome with all of the snowflakes!

Here are the 10 cards I created using Day 2's tutorial:

I think these 2 cards are my favorite.  I used MFT's Snowflake Die-namics to make the delicate flakes and added some bling to the centers.

Again, these snowflakes are a berry red and not an orangy color as it appears in the photos.  I was surprised how close it matched the ink.

I just loved that BIG blingy center in the white snowflake that matches the Spring Moss ink.

Some pretty brads dress up the red snowflake on this one.

Some of the cards I embossed to give another dimension.

Day 2's lessons focused on mass producing cards using a large background stamp.  Basically, you cover a piece of 4.25"x5.5" white cardstock with a background stamp.  You can mix the colors all on the same stamp and have a collage effect or you can do as I did and just use one single color for each of the colors you choose.  After you have the panels covered you slice them up into all different shapes and sizes.  I did 2 panels of each color (except Melon Berry because I was using that as my base).

Then you gather sentiments that you like and make a ton of double banners and cut any embellishements that you would like to add to your cards.  I had a huge stack of Stampin' Up's Big Felt Flurries that I wanted to use and although the picture doesn't show the true color of those felt snowflakes, they match the Melon Berry ink perfectly.

You should have seen all my piles of goodies, just waiting to be assembled.  I surprised myself because I usually need sketches to get ideas, but with this method I just grabbed 1 of each color of background that I cut up and pieced them together along with the other components before I actually stuck everything down.  It was really quite amazing how fast you get into the groove and can whip those cards together!

I'm thinking of using up some old patterned paper packs for this exact method.  I might even do a tutorial on it with lots of step-by-step instructions.  ;-)

Thanks for stopping by today and come back soon because I have more Christmas cards scheduled!
