Hoppy Birthday!

Hi, everyone!

I've had a pretty busy week, thus few posts.........BUT...........I've been pretty crafty today and got 4 cards made.  My husband has set out to our river lot in order to open up the camper, so I've been busy crafting.  I can't wait until next week, because we are going to be by the river for Easter!

Anyway.....I had a friend ask me to make her a birthday card for a 2-year old.  I showed her some stamp sets that I had and she chose the set with the froggy.

This is what I came up with for her!
The frog and lily pad are die cut and stamped on felt and look awesome!

For the inside, I decided to carry through the little fly and the star circles.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Boy Basics: Frog Hop stamp set
Boy Basics: Simple Circles stamp set
Think Big Favorites #2 stamp set
DCWV patterned paper - Safari Kids
Kraft & Rustic Cream cardstock
Canyon Clay and Simply Chartreuse dye ink

SSD #121 Sketch Challenge

Good Morning, everyone!
This is my second post of the day, so if you would like to see the card I made for the new Paper and Such Challenge, please CLICK HERE!

Welcome to SSD's Sketch Challenge 121!
I'm so happy to see you joining us again this week!

Well, the time has come to see Angi Barrs' last sketch as our sketch artist for this month.  I had such an amazing time using each of her sketches along with the Scor-Buddy and Skipping Stones Design stamps.  She is one talented lady.

We are also saying goodbye to our 2 very talented guest designers: A.J. Otto and  Amy Tsuruta.  Be sure to visit their blogs as well as the design team (all of their blogs are listed in the right side column) so that you can get some wonderful inspiration for this challenge!  Both of you ladies rocked it this month!

For my card this week, I a new product "for me."  First time using Washi tape and I loved it!  I hope this doesn't become another stamping addiction......lol  I loved how easy it was to dress up the inside of a card using it!  Fun stuff!

Using the Scor-Buddy, I made the 3D banner and have that center popping out by simply making 2 scor lines 1/4" apart and folding on the lines to make it come to life.  I also used it for the panels where I used the Washi tape.  It almost makes it look like ribbon weaved in and out of the card.

Just adding the Washi tape to the inside pulls it together, but also finishes the card off.  Don't you just love that sentiment for the inside of the card??

This month Skipping Stones is partnering up with Scor-Pal!  All month you have been seeing cards with unique folds or designs using this wonderful tool.....That's because each of the designers were given a Scor-Buddy to use on all of our creations this month.  Thanks Scor-Pal!!!

Here's your sketch for this week, so that you can join in on the fun!

Are you ready to get inky?
Are you ready to create something for the challenge?

I can't wait to see what you come up with using this awesome sketch......AND......if you are ambitious, your scoring tool!

Paper and Such Spring Challenge

Good morning, everyone!

Are you ready for another Paper and Such challenge?
We host them on the blog every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
And this week's challenge is an Easter or Spring Theme!

I don't have many Easter stamps so I chose to do a "spring theme" with lots and lots of flowers with the help of Paper and Such!  I just love their Daisies and Daffodils stamp sets.  So, for this card, I decided to use both!
You can't see it, but I used an atyou Clear Spica pen to color in all of the petals of the daisies and they just pop, IRL.

Once you have your project completed be sure to go back to the Paper and Such blog and enter it for a chance to win!

I used a few other challenges for my card this week.  The first was The Deconstructed Sketch No. 44 Challenge.  I absolutely loved all the panels in this sketch this week.  The 2nd challenge was The Play Date Cafe's #124 Color Challenge.  Loved that deep purple for the daisies.

Materials Used:
Paper and Such - Daisies and Daffodils stamp sets
Bo Bunny patterned paper - A Midnight Frost Collection
DCWV patterned paper - Cotton Bloom Stack
PTI cardstock - Harvest Gold, Blueberry Sky and Stampers' Select White

Searching for a Thank You!

Hello, everyone!!!

I'm back with my second post for the day.  If you'd like to see my Beautiful Butterflies card that I posted this morning, please CLICK HERE!

I think I may have a problem!  I'm not using some of my stamps!!!  LOL  I tend to stick with my PTI stamps, but I have so many other cute stamp sets.  I'm going to try to break out a few of my other stamps every week.  I've gotta use those babies!!!  ;-)

Here's a perfect example!  I loved this crossword stamp set and haven't even inked it up, yet.  Well, that's all going to change with this card.  I'm going to start inking up these less loved sets.

I've been neglecting my {stamps} of life stamps lately.  It was about time that I revisited my stash!

I'm using this card for the iSpy Sketches Challenge #8This was perfect for the word search stamp that I used.  Surrounding it with the yellow background helped highlight those words even more.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
the {stamps} of life - Search4Words stamp set
DCWV patterned paper - Cotton Bloom Stack
Hawaiian Shores and Stampers' Select White cardstock
The Girls' Paperie ribbon - Vintage Whimsy
Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
Memento marker - Cantaloupe

More Beautiful Butterflies!!!

Hello, everyone!!!

Here's a quick post with a card I made on Sunday.  I am absolutely loving PTI's new butterfly set called Beautiful Butterflies!  I can see that this is going to be my "go to" set of 2012!

This patterned paper was perfect as a backdrop for the different colored butterflies!

I'm using this card for 2 challenges today.  The first is for the Freshly Made Sketches #27 ChallengeI was a bit stumped for this one at first, but then I thought about using dies instead of stamping.  The 2nd challenge that I used is The Color Throwdown #184 Color ChallengeFinding the perfect patterned paper for the butterfly die cuts was the difficult of part of this color challenge.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Beautiful Butterflies stamp set & dies
Pretty Peonies stamp set
Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circles die
We R Memory Keepers patterned paper - Travel Light
My Mind's Eye patterned paper - On the Bright Side-One & Two
Basic Grey patterned paper - Plumeria

Papertrey March Blog Hop Challenge!

Good morning, everyone!

This is my 2nd post for the day!  If you are looking for the Outlawz CAS challenge for this week, please CLICK HERE!

I don't get to participate in many of the PTI blog hops because if they don't hit on the weekends, I can't link up to Nichole's blog.  So, when I get a chance to hop along, like this weekend, you better believe that I'm going to participate!

I can say that I never used this color combination, but I definitely should have!  Love all of the "happy" vibes you get from the turquoise, gold and white!

I wanted you to see how pretty the patterned paper was on the bottom butterfly.  You may have to click to enlarge the photo to see it better.

This photo is to show off the details in this impression plate and background stamp set.  The background was so incredibly easy to line up with the extra clear rubber around the edge of the image.  Love this change by PTI to their background stamps!

This month's blog hop was based on the image below and here is what Nichole posted on her blog for this challenge:

We are excited to get back to our inspiration challenges for the blog hop each month.  For the month of March we wanted to focus on sunshine and the upcoming spring season.  What better way to do so than with a fresh color scheme of aqua & yellow.  Use the inspiration piece as a jumping point for your color scheme, pattern combinations, overall design or whatever else inspires your creativity.  We look forward to seeing your creations!

Click HERE to see all of the wonderful entries this month!!!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Beautiful Butterflies stamp set & dies

MIM with Graduated Backgrounds!

Hello, everyone!!!

I very rarely get to make cards in the evening after coming home from the school.  I'm usually exhausted and have to cook dinner and/or correct a ton of papers.  Since we are in week 2 of our state testing, I'm all caught up with my school work and had the chance to do another Make It Monday challenge!!!

This week's technique was so fun (watch the video of this technique below)!  I chose to use Copics, but can't wait to try the reinkers and water.  The little $5 set from PTI called Whale Wishes was perfect for a background of the ocean!

Not sure if you can see it in the picture above, but if you click to enlarge, you'll see a cut wave that I have the whale sitting in.  I took one of PTI's In the Meadow dies and traced it with my kraft knife......creating the perfect little wave to nestle my whale.

Popping the up the top half of the whale with dimensionals made him come to life in the pretty water!

Here's the video that I mentioned above!

I'm using this card for 2 challenges today.  The first is obviously for the Make It Monday #58 - Graduated Backgrounds ChallengeThe 2nd challenge that I used is ColourQ #129 Color Challenge.  When I saw the colors for this challenge, all I could think of was water....but how could I incorporate the purples?  Then I thought of the Whale Wishes stamp set that I had from PTI and never looked back!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Whale Wishes stamp set & dies
In the Meadow dies
Stampers' Select White cardstock
Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients - Purple cardstock

Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge #120!

Good Morning, everyone!!!

Welcome to SSD's Sketch Challenge 120!
I'm so happy to see you joining us again this week!

Once again, we have the wonderful Angi Barrs as our sketch artist for this week.  Joining her are our 2 very talented guest designers: A.J. Otto and  Amy Tsuruta.  Be sure to visit their blogs as well as the design team (all of their blogs are listed in the right side column) so that you can get some wonderful inspiration for the challenge!

For my card this week, I went a little larger than normal.  Instead of an A2 sized card this one is 6.25"x4.5".  I needed a bigger card to fit the rosettes.

The stamped flowers were colored with Memento markers before stamping.  If you click to enlarge the photo, you will see that it loos as if they were water-colored.

This month Skipping Stones is partnering up with Scor-Pal!  All month you have been seeing cards with unique folds or designs using this wonderful tool.....That's because each of the designers were given a Scor-Buddy to use on all of our creations this month.  Thanks Scor-Pal!!!

This week, I chose to use the Scor-Buddy to make these cute rosettes.  I cut 7 strips of paper that were 6"x1/2".  Next, I scored the paper strips at 1/4" increments.  I folded them accordion style and then hot-glued the end tabs to make a circle.  I pushed them flat, which does take a bit of doing......lol, and then I hot-glued them to make the rosettes.  Finally, I topped them off with some pearl embellishments and adhered them to my card.

I absolutely loved the sketch for this week, but I struggled with using circles and the Scor-Buddy.  The problem was easily solved when I thought of making those tiny rosettes!  Yayyyyyyyy!!!

Are you ready to get inky?
Are you ready to create something for the challenge?

I can't wait to see what you come up with using this awesome sketch......AND......if you are ambitious, your scoring tool!
