Skipping Stones Designs #113 Sketch Challenge

Good Morning, everyone!!!

Are you ready for SSD's Sketch Challenge 113???

Well, where in the world did January go?  Pamela Young provided us with wonderful sketches for the first month of 2012. I'll be sad to see her and our 3 very talented guest designers say goodbye. Emily Leiphart, Candice Fields and Julie Day you all rocked the sketches this month. Thanks for all of the inspiration this month!

Chocolate anyone?
I used the Grunge 2 stamp set to mimic drops and splashes of melted chocolate instead of paint.  Those chocolatey fingerprints made this card so fun!  Yummy!

Here's this week's Skipping Stones #113 Sketch:

Getting back on track!

Good morning, everyone!
I'm finally feeling good enough to get back on track with my card making!!!

So, yesterday and today, I pounded out some cards and have them lined up for the next few weeks already scheduled with Blogger!  It's a good feeling to get ahead a bit.

This year, I'm really going to try to do Jen DelMuro's challenges and be able to qualify for her HUGE give away at the end of the year.  What do you have to do?  One card for each sketch she posts, which is once a month.  I love her sketches and have followed her almost from the start of making cards.  Love her work!

With that being said, here's my submission for January!

I got to use my new Sew Ribbon with the new Classic Kraft twill ribbon from PTI!

I wanted to showcase this close up because I was so happy with how the Doily Detail die came out.  I used sponged distress ink over-top Hibiscus Burst cardstock and it matches the patterned paper on the top.  Love it!

Here is the I{heart}2stamp - January Sketch that I mentioned above!

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Tag Its #1 stamp set
 Tag Its #3 stamp set

Important Cards for Important People

Hi, everyone!

It's been a whirlwind of 2 weeks as I had some unexpected health issues and a pretty scary incident.  I'm much better now and on my way to recovery.  But, I finally felt good enough to get two very important cards made for two very important cardiologists.  Without them, I'd still be dealing with issues that are pretty alarming.

So........
I sent these out in hopes that they realize how special they are.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the Heart Stethoscope image.  Love this machine!  Also used the linen IP from PTI, but you'll have to click to enlarge to see the impression.

Thanks, Docs!!!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Big and Bold Wishes stamp set
Silhouette Cameo online images - Heart Stethoscope image
Linen/Canvas impression plate
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black

Winter Swoosh

Good morning, everyone!

Have I mentioned lately how much I just love my NEW Silhouette Cameo?  Really?  You haven't heard me talking about it constantly???  LOL

Well, today I get to tell you how much I'm totally loving my NEW toy............
just because of the Outlawz CAS challenge this week!

Your challenge this week.....
is to create a CAS project using something NEW for the New Year!  NEW can be something you got during the holidays, or NEW can simply mean something you have laying in your stash that you have never used.  Let us see how you use your NEW item and don't forget to tell us about it in your post!

Here is my project using my NEW Silhouette Cameo and NEW stamps!
Aren't these just gorgeous?  I wish I could take credit for "creating" them, but it was simply a push of a Cameo button to load up the plastic sheet and then it did all of the work.

I did play around with the software a bit and used the knife tool in order to create the white inserts so that my hand-written notes showed up well.  I was pretty darned proud of myself for doing that.....lol

I also used my brand NEW limited edition "Thank You" stamp set from PTI's December release.  They were so generous in putting this 2 stamp set in each of the first 1,500 orders that night.  Loved that wonderful surprise.  Because white ink just doesn't show up as bold as I'd like I did heat emboss using white embossing powder, too!  Looks goregous!

Please join us at the Outlawz for this fun challenge.  You can also find other challenges for EVERY day of the week.  When you submit each of your entries with the Inlinkz  tab, at the end of every month there are huge prizes to be won!!!  Go check it out!!!

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Limited Edition December 2011 Thank You stamp set
Silhouette Online Store - Snowflake Swoosh Card
Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Plum Pudding and Stampers' Select White cardstock
Fresh Snow ink
Filigree embossing powder - White

I can't wait to see what you create with this challenge!!!

Skipping Stones' Feature Friday!

Hi, everyone!

It's a Skipping Stones Feature Friday!

Today, I'll be featuring an older set (Grunge) and our newly released set.....Grunge 2

Both of these sets are just perfect for those "hard to make" masculine cards.

I chose to use all of the background images (from both sets) on just this one card.  Since there are so many of them, it's easy to find the one that will work for your special occasion.  My absolute favorite is the paint splotches that I have on the large kraft panel.  I think I've used it for every challenge this month.....lol

Here's a close up so that you can see all of those wonderful "grungy" background patterns!

Here's a look at both sets!

Clean and Simple Stamping - Day 4

Hey, everyone!
I'm here again today with another project from the Clean and Simle Card Making Online Class that I'm taking.

Day 4's assignment was teaching how to use one stamp 3 ways.  This was also a little bit tedious for me, but I totally would do it all over again because I love the results.

I made 5 of these cards and they are probably one of my favorites so far in this class.
I wanted/needed to add some purple into this card due to my Type A personality.....lol  I arranged the letters on Royal Velvet (purple) cardstock, but I didn't like how that looked, so I decided to add some Lilac twine.

I had to take a close up of just one for you.  The "just sayin'" sentiment is hand written using a white gel pen and the letters are popped up on dimensional stickers.  They look so awesome!

The only reason it was tedious was because I don't have repositional glue so that I could heat emboss the whole word at once.......and I don't have a Xyron sticker maker.  So, each group of letters had to be done separately.

I am absolutely loving this class!!!  It's probably my favorite out of all 4 that I've taken.

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
the {stamps} of life - dictionary4me stamp set
Silhouette Cameo - Chunk Five font
True Black cardstock
Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients - Assorted cardstock
The Twinery twine - Lilac
Fresh Snow ink
Filigree embossing powder - White
Signo Uniball gel pen  - White

Bitty Love Card Set from Paper & Such

Good morning, everyone!

On January 9th, Paper and Such released 3 new stamp sets and the one that I immediately thought would make an adorable set of cards was Bitty Love.

Take a peek and see for yourself!

When I saw the letter patterned paper by DCWV - The Stack #6, it was easy to choose for the 3 blocks!

Finding patterned paper to go with a rock proved very challenging.....but, Basic Grey's Archaic came to the rescue!

I loved the red, white and blue plaid paper from DCWV's Summer Dream.  Perfect for the cute little apple!

Echo Park's Country Drive was perfect for this one because of the honeycomb pattern!

Materials Used (patterned paper listed below each photo):
Paper and Such - Bitty Love stamp set
PTI cardstock - Stampers' Select White
Mememento ink - Tuxedo Black
Copic markers - Y13 (ruler), E23/57/81 (rock) and E49/81, R24, YG13/17 (apple)
Mememento markers - Cantaloupe, Dandelion and Summer Sky (honey jar)
atyou Spica glitter pen - Clear
Misc. ribbon

Clean & Simple Card Making Online Class - Day 5

Hey, everyone!

Day 5's assignment focused on a distress ink technique show to us by Jennifer McGuire.  Using watercolor paper and heat embossing you create blocks of color over top of your images.  The card she used as an example also had the sentiment embossed and inked over, but with the images I chose, that wouldn't work.

Love the blues and greens together!

So, it was my turn to pick a letter for a stamp set to use with one of my PTI Pen Pals, Ted.  I chose the letter "S" so we had to choose a PTI stamp set beginning with that letter........but then, Ted through a wrench into the mix........He also challenged us to use colors beginning with "S", too!  So, my mind was spinning......lol

As you can see, I decided to use Scattered Showers Additions as my stamp set.  The base of my card is Simply Chartreuse and I used Shabby Shutters  and Chipped Sapphire for my inks.  I'm really enjoying these challenges!  Thanks, Ted!

I am absolutely loving this class!!!  It's probably my favorite out of all 4 that I've taken.

Clean and Simple Cardmaking Class - Day 3

Hey, everyone!
This is my 2nd post of the day, so click HERE if you want to see another card made from the CAS class I'm taking.

Day 3's assignment was a monochromatic card.  The hearts are made by making 6 pieces!  5 are just cut from pieces of white scrappy pieces of card stock and the 6th is the one that remains the same color as your background.

I chose to do the white gel pen around the hearts as well as a border and I really like the way that turned out.

Although this card "looks" CAS.......It was anything BUT simple!  I wanted to use my new toy (the Silhouette Cameo) but I think I chose the wrong image to cut out.  That filigree heart was almost the death of me......lol  I cut 5 on lighter weight cs, but the cuts didn't go the whole way through so I sat for 2 sessions (couldn't do it all at one time) and cut them out with a kraft knife........NOT fun!  LOL  This card, because of that, took me almost 4 HOURS!  Yep, you did read that right!

So, moral of the story...........
Use simple shapes when stacking and gluing them together!

I am absolutely loving this class!!!  It's probably my favorite out of all 4 that I've taken.

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Verve - Love Monkey stamp set
Silhouette Cameo - 3 Flourished Hearts
Pure Poppy and Stampers' Select White cardstock
Fresh Snow ink
Filigree embossing powder - White
Signo Uniball gel pen  - White

Clean & Simple Card Making Class - Day 2!

Good morning, everyone!

Day 2's assignment was a one layer card.  The video that Julie Ebersole did for today's class was so incredilbly fun to watch and to listen to.  She is so animated!

I could not get a really good picture of these cards, so you may want to click to enlarge the photo.  My marigolds turned out better than I could hope for, so I am one happy stamper!

Year of Flowers:  Marigolds stamp set
Year of Flowers: Gladiolus stamp set (I'm Here for you sentiment)

Think Big Favorites #3 (hello friend sentiment)

Another card from Clean & Simple Card Making Class - Day 1!

Good morning, everyone!

This will be a very quick post........but, it does have a very cute card!  ;-)

I got to use my Silhouette Cameo to cut out "Enjoy" on the blue strip.  I was going to stamp the inside with a birthday sentiment, but I decided to wait, just in case this card lends itself to another occasion.

This is another card that uses a sketch that was provided from Day 1 of the online Clean & Simple Card Making class I'm taking.  However, they instructors had asked that the sketch not be posted on our blogs.  I think you can get the idea from my cards, but I'm sticking to their request.

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Silhouette Cameo - Eras Demi ITC font
Fillable Frames #8
 DCWV - Cotton Bloom Stack
 Stampers' Select White cardstock
The Girls' Paperie market trims - Vintage Whimsy
VersaFine ink - Deep Lagoon
Misc. button
White floss

A Pen Pal Challenge for my CAS Card Class - Day 1!

Good morning, everyone!

Over at the PTI forums, Ted started a thread over a year ago that would allow members to team up to be "creative" pen pals.  The thread was recently bumped up and many of us who didn't see it before jumped on in.  Ted had asked to be one of my Pen Pals and we are sort of pushing each other to use stamp sets that may be collecting a little dust.

For this challenge, Ted chose to pick the letter "L" and we both had to create a card using a PTI stamp set beginning with that letter.  We were allowed to use other sets (even from other companies) as long as one of those sets fit the "L" challenge.  Here's Ted's blog and the post that he did with his "L" set.  While you are there, you've got to check out his other awesome projects.

Well, here are my "Little Bitty Bird" cards!
I chose to make 2 of these because they are 4"x4" and I could get 2 per sheet of cardstock.  They will be adorable for a quick card to mail.

I used a sketch that was provided from Day 1 of the online Clean & Simple Card Making class I'm taking.  However, they instructors had asked that the sketch not be posted on our blogs.  I think you can get the idea from my cards, but I'm sticking to their request.
This  is my 4th online course from Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.  They really teach you so much in technique with each of their classes that I'm never disappointed.

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Little Bitty Bird stamp set and dies
Fillable Frames #1 (sentiment)
Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card - Vines
Autumn Rose cardstock
Fresh Snow & Raspberry Fizz ink
Filigree embossing powder - White
Uniball Signo gel pen - White
