Skipping Stones Sketch Challenge!!!

Welcome to Skipping Stones Sketch #91!

Before I introduce my final card as a guest DT ....for.... the final sketch this week from the most awesome Teri........I have to say thank-you to the Skipping Stones team for having me participate this month.  I absolutely loved being a guest DT member and getting to create with such wonderful ladies!  I totally enjoyed the opportunity and the sketch challenges!!!

So are you ready for the sketch?
Remember, if you play along with this sketch by going to the Skipping Stones Design Blog,  you could win any SSD stamp set of your choice!  How's that for fun?

Here is my card using Always Here and Teri's new sketch!

I substituted the butterflies for the circles and used Liquid Pearls and some pearl embellishments to match the Perfect Pearls in the butterflies.

Just a "straight-on" shot so you can see all the beautiful colors better.

This was the very first time I used Perfect Pearls with stamping on a card. I've used them before, but only to add to my Ranger inks to make a glimmer mist.  Nichole Heady of PTI recently used them on a card for a past release and reading about the technique jogged my memory that I actually had these powders and never used them this way......lol  So, I had to try.

I also have never used Liquid Pearls and just bought a bunch.  I was thankful to find that I had 2 of the 3 colors to match the butterflies.......but, the third I had to use pearl embellishments.  My Liquid Pearls didn't exactly turn out "round" and are a little cone-shaped.  I even did the flicking and tapping of the panel on my desk, but they wouldn't make that perfect drop......so, I'll have to do some more practicing, I guess.  It all came together, so that's all that matters!  ;-)

Teri did a wonderful sketch for this week's challenge, as it open for basically anything you want to use.  Here's this week's Skipping Stones #91 Sketch below:
I rotated the sketch to the right, making it a vertical card instead.  Love all the options you have for this........because the circles don't HAVE to be circles.  Get creative!

Please be sure to give the wonderful DT and guests a peek!
They all have great cards waiting for you.

Stephanie Mino (you are here)

I can't wait to see all of your creations!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):

Perfect Pearls - Gold, Copper & Bronze

Squigglefly Monday Challenge........Writer's Cramp!!!!

Good morning!!!

While you are reading this, I'm a nervous wreck because my new class is arriving for their first day at 8:00 this morning!!!

Why am I nervous??? I always am.  I just want the kids to have such a great first day and go home knowing that tomorrow will be great, too.  The kids come with such anxiety and I want them to know that we can have loads of fun while we are learning.

Sooooooooooooo...........Wish me luck while you are reading this post!

The challenge this week fits absolutely perfectly with my first day of school...........

We want you to use chalk (any kind), pencils, ball point pens, highlighters or crayons on your project.  Or, you can do what I did and use a school themed image or sentiment on your project.

Once you have taken us up on this challenge, be sure to enter it in the challenge thread over on the Squigglefly Blog.  You don't need a Squigglefly image to enter the challenge...........but, you are only entered into the drawing for a prize, if you use one.

I decided to go with my most favorite Squigglefly images.........a Shy Bear!  This image is one of many that Lynne Stansbery creates with this cutie-pa-tootie little bear.  This one is called Shy Bear: Teacher Bear and is just as adorable as all of the others.

You all know that I just love the Shy Bear images......but, this one takes the cake!  I didn't even know there was a Shy Bear that was school related until I did a search for "teacher" on the Squigglefly site!
I'm giving this to a fellow teacher who left towards the end of May last year to have her 2nd baby.  Starting back will be so hard for her because I know she'll be thinking of her little guys at home.  I hope this brings a smile to her face and makes her day a little better.

Materials Used:
Squigglefly Digital Stamps - Shy Bear: Teacher Bear
PTI - Tag-It's #7
DCWV patterned paper - Grade School Stack
PTI - True Black, Pure Poppy & Stamper's Select White cardstock
Fiskars Star Punch
Colorbok - Red Glitter patterned paper
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black
Copic markers - R20/24/29, G17, YG17/93, Y18/23/32/35, YR02/07/15/18/24,
B000/21/23, E17/18/35/39/81, and C1/2/5/7/9

I can't wait to see what you use on your school images this week!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Felt Flower Fusion #7!!!

Hi, everyone!

It's Saturday!!!  And I'm headed out with 7 awesome friends to a wine festival.  We go every year with each other and have such a wonderful time.  I come home each year with my sides hurting because of all of the laughing and carrying on that we do all weekend.  I truly think it's a great form of therapy!

So, I guess it's time to share my card, right???

My PTI release arrived on Saturday (last weekend) and Flower Fusion #7 and a die are all that I've had time to use so far. But, wow was this card ever fun to make!  I just love how it turned out!

See if you agree!

I started out making 4 die cuts of the flowers and folding them in four and hand-sewing the bottom "V" to keep each triangle closed.  Then I started playing and loved how this looked.  It's one flat die cut with 2 of the folded ones standing up back-to-back.  I used some tacky glue and it's together pretty good.  I love how it turned out.

Please click to enlarge to see how beautiful the heat embossing turned out.  I did all the stamping on the Vintage Cream cardstock and then used the Cover-a-Card overtop with VersaMark.  I used clear embossing powder and the shine is just amazing.  I think the leaves on the flower really look awesome with the texture over the ink.

I created this card with 2 challenges in mind......
Card Positioning Systems #232 Sketch Challenge and the Play Date Cafe #96 Color Challenge.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Flower Fusion #7 stamp set & die
Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card - Flourishes
Stampin' Up patterned paper - Sending Love (retired)
Ocean Tides felt & ink
Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients cardstock - Mint
Vintage Cream cardstock
VersaMagic ink - Pink Petunia
VersaMark ink
Filigree embossing powder - Clear

My first Market Street Stamps and Challenge!

Hi, everyone!
Are you happy it's Friday???
I am!  And, by the time you are reading this, I'll be at work and then headed straight to a wine festival to spend the weekend with the best friends EVER!!!  I look forward to this trip every year!

Okay.......on to the card!

I just got my very first Market Street Stamps two weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to use them.  When I saw that they had a camping set........I knew that would be my first.  Well, the cute little mosquito in the set totally has my heart and so, he's the image I chose for this card.

Here's what I made using my new set!
Isn't that striped paper so, so fun???  Love that the mosquito is pulling that green out of the patterned paper.  I also just LOVE the font in the sentiment.

You might have to click to enlarge to see that I lightly stamped the mosquito again on the inside.  He's so, so adorable that I just had to use him again.

I was quite pleased that I had waited to use my new stamps because Market Street has sketch challenges every month, so I created this card with their challenge in mind......
Market Street Stamps Sketch #5.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Market Street Stamps - Gone Campin stamp set

PTI August Blog Hop!!!

Would you believe that I haven't participated in a PTI Blog Hop since April?  APRIL!!!  Sheesh, what was busy doin'?

I'm just happy that I could participate this month!

Here's Nichole's post about the challenge......

Inspiration Challenge!
We have another amazing inspirational photo for you this month that we just know will bring out the very best in your creativity!  Look closely as there are so many directions to go in!  You can choose to focus on the colors, the motifs, or the idea of incorporating books/book print or even jars.  We look forward to seeing your creations!

This is the inspiration photo!  I chose to focus on the colors, motifs and books for my card below.

I started by making a background using my new Iconic Images set.  These beautiful elements all worked so perfectly for the back layer.  VersaMagic ink in Wheat was a perfect match for the Fine Linen cardstock.

After making the background, I stamped the book image and sentiment and went looking for a flower.  Just as I was doing so the mail came and my August release arrived so I knew instantly that I was going to use my new Bloom Builders #3 die.  At first I was trying to find patterned paper to match the pink, but when I ran across the book print patterned paper, I knew that was what I wanted to use.

So, this is what I came up with!!!

I am really double tasking with this card.  Not only am I entering it into the PTI August Blog Hop, but I'm also using it for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge to bring it all together.  I just love these sketches!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
All Booked Up stamp set
Iconic Images stamp set
Bloom Builders #3 die
Echo Park patterned paper - Country Drive
The Girl's Paperie patterned paper - Kitch
DCWV patterned paper - Cotton Bloom
Fine Linen & Stamper's Select White cardstock
Memento ink - Tuxedo Black & Bamboo Leaves
VersaMagic ink - Pink Petunia & Wheat
Vintage Buttons - Holiday Mix
DMC Floss
Recollections Dimensional Stickers
Taylored Expressions - Tiny Twinkles

Off to your next one!!!
 Happy Stamping!!!

Here is my card using Bras - Vol. 1 and Everyday Blessings and Teri's new sketch (below)!
I created my own patterned blocks by using the swirls from Everyday Blessings and VersaMagic ink in Wheat.  That color is a favorite match for Kraft when I use it.

Please click to enlarge so that you can see the swirly again at the bottom and read the sentiment.

Love this week's sketch from Teri!

Set of 4 Thank-you cards

Good Morning, everyone!

I'm back with more Gracious Vases cards!  It's funny that when I receive a set of stamps, I love making several cards with them before I catalog them for another time.

I honestly got my inspiration from this post from Maile Belles when she was introducing Gracious Vases.  I "Pinned" it and while looking through my CAS Cards category, I saw it and thought I would make a set of cards for a dear friend using this idea.

The two cards in the back have pink twine.  I should have thought to put one of them up front for this photo.

Here's a close up of the clear embossing on the bottom of the card.  I also got this idea from other posts Maile did for us using several stamp sets that month.  I loved the effect but never got a chance to use it, until now.  Click to enlarge to see how beautiful that pattern is.

I followed a the Play Date Cafe #95 Color Challenge & CAS-ual Friday's Embossing Challenge in order to make this set!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Gracious Vases stamp set
Think Big Favorites #2 stamp set
Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card - Flourishes
The Twinery - Honeydew & Blossom
Stamper's Select White cardstock
VersaMagic ink - Night Sky, Tea Leaves, Aloe Vera & Pink Petunia

Merci.......w/ Lots of Turquoise!!!

Good morning!

Today I have a special card that was such fun to make!
I don't get to do Mojo Monday challenges as much as I'd like but I loved this week's sketch so I forced myself to find the time to do it.

Love these sideways shots......So, this picture is for moi (that's about all the French that I know....LOL)!

If you click to enlarge, you will see the cutest little rhinestone in that corner flower.  Love it!

I used Mojo Monday's #204 Sketch and ColourQ's #98 Color Challenge for this card.   Even though I have no Stampin' Up cardstock, I tried my best to make the colors work with the patterned paper I had on hand.  Not too shabby!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Think Big Favorites #3 stamp set
Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card stamp - Sketchy Flowers
DCWV - Autumn Amber & Cafe Mediterranean matstacks
Nesties - Large & Small Standard Circles
Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Club kit - saddle stitch ribbon and brown cs
VersaMagic ink -  Sea Breeze & Turquoise Gem
Fiskars Emboss Plus Punch

Thanks a million!

Happy, Happy Saturday to ya!!!

Just a quick card for my very first My Mind's Eye Card Challenge.  I didn't even know that they offered challenges or I would have been all over this much, much sooner.  I just love MME patterned papers and embellishments......and now, since they are making the trims to match some of their papers........I am in HEAVEN!

Here's a very simple TY card that I made using their patterned papers, trims and decorative brads.

Don't you just love how everything coordinates???

Here is the sketch from MME:
Those tags made the layout so fun to work with!

Stella Rose patterned paper - Hattie
Stella Rose decorative brads - Hattie
Stella Rose trims - Gertie

Breaking out the Iconic Images!

Good morning, everyone!

I finally broke out my new Iconic Images set that PTI was giving away with a $100 purchase during their Stamp-a-Faire weekend.  There are so many gorgeous stamps in this set.

The patterned paper on this card is what I think I like the most!  It's so bright and fun and allowed me to pull many of the colors for the stamping out of the background.  I did mask off the pitcher in order to stamp the flowers and I love how the one flower is peeking out from behind the spout.

Please click to enlarge to see all the great details.  To make the sentiment "pop," I did heat emboss it using Fresh Snow ink and white embossing powder.

I used The Sweet Stop's #121 Sketch for this card.  I absolutely love all of the layering in this card!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Iconic Images stamp set
Everyday Classics stamp set (sentiment)
Double Ended Banner die
The Girls Paperie - Kisch patterned paper
Pure Poppy & Blueberry Sky cardstock
VersaMagic ink - Red Magic
Simply Chartreuse & Fresh Snow ink
Tim Holtz distress inks - Tumbled Glass
Filigree embossing powder - White
K&Company - Elegance Daisy

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
