My April Christmas cards!!!

It's time for more Christmas cards!!!
Yep!!!  8 more done for the month of April!

I just bought this set off of someone in the PTI forum!  I just love this tree and die!

Here are all 8 in their glory!

I used a sketch from the Christmas Card Challenges blog this week.  As soon as I saw it I knew I could use my new stamps.  I couldn't think of anything to put on the card where the little circle is in the sketch below, so I just did a little ribbon knot.  I hope that is okay to do.  It looks nice, so I'm happy with it.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Tree Trimming Trio stamp set
Basic Grey patterned paper - Eskimo Kisses
Pinefeather & Stamper's Select White cardstock
Pinefeather satin ribbon
Misc. grosgrain green ribbon
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black and Crimson Red
ColorBox Cat Eye ink - Pheasant Gold & Verdigris

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!!

Girly, You Rock for 4th April Verve Challenge & CR84FN Challenge

It's going to be a wonderful Wednesday!!!
Why???  Because I got the 4th Verve sketch done for April!

This card was by far the toughest of all the sketches for me......I'm not really quite sure why, but this card took me nearly 2.5 hours to finish........But, I have to say that I'm totally in love with it!

This is really, really out of my comfort zone........the colors, the wild shapes, the border......But, I totally love it.  In fact, I don't think I want to give it away after all that time it took to make it......lol

As I mentioned, this is the last Verve Sketch for this month that I had to complete.  This is the April - Week 3 Verve Sketch and like I said early.......this sketch kicked my booty!  I think part of the difficulty I was having was due to the fact that I wanted to pair it with a color challenge.......I was putting out all kinds of patterned paper and came across the teal/red/white paper and remembered seeing the CR84FN 25 Color Challenge.......I'm so glad it took me some time to figure it out because I'm totally in love with this card.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Signature Greetings stamp set
Boy Basics: Simple Circles stamp set
DCWV patterned paper - The Stack #6
Victorian Lace border die
Pure Poppy & Stamper's Select White cardstock
Taylored Expressions cardstock - Lakeshore
Nestabilities - Standard Circles: Large & Small
Nestabilities - Classic Ovals: Large & Small
VersaMagic ink - Aegean Blue and Red Magic
Vintage Holiday Button Mix

Thank You card for MIM, C&S and Gina K. Challenges

Happy Wednesday!!!

I have just been rockin' this week with my card making!
So many cards made and I'm just really enjoying the process.  Some of these have taken me in upwards of 2 hours or more and I'm not letting myself get frustrated, I just kept trying something else until things started clicking.  And they did!!!

This card is a prime example!

When you see the sketch below, you'll notice the flowers in it.  I was trying adhesive flowers (too big), stamping flowers wouldn't work because I didn't mask the leaves (ughhhhh), and then finally I remembered all of the little Flower Fusion dies I have been getting from PTI.  I picked my favorite, used the design element of 3's and it really worked!

This card is larger than my normal A2 sized card........but, I totally loved all of the room to make this sketch work.  I have a bunch of assorted envelopes that need used, so this card ended up being 4.5" x 7".

The framing technique is going to take more time for me to develop, but I did enjoy doing it.  When you enlarge the picture above, you can see that my lines aren't perfect........mostly because I wasn't as smooth and fast as Nichole with my pen.  But, I know I'll get better with practice.  I used a Copic Multiliner 0.5 for my line.

You can click to enlarge this, but I just wanted you to see the awesome shimmer of this gold shimmer cardstock.  I just simply love stamping on it.  It's gorgeous!!!

I really combined quite a few challenges for this card.  First of all, after watching PTI's Make It Monday #12 video, I remembered the C&S #137 sketch and knew I could apply it......so, I was really excited.  Then, I applied Gina K.'s #21 Color Challenge to the whole thing and a beautiful card came out of it.

Here's the PTI Make It Monday video if you want to practice this technique.

Beautiful Blooms stamp set (leaves)

Tim Holtz distress ink - Forest Moss

Papertrey April Blog Hop!

I have the day off, so I get to play along!!!

For April's Blog Hop, this is the challenge......

Let's Hear it for the boys!
This month's blog hop is dedicated to all the boys and men in our lives!  Now's your chance to create Father's Day projects, boy birthday cards and more to build up your stash!  Focus on masculine color schemes, fresh pattern combinations, understated embellishments and unique uses of images you may already have in your stash!

I already have my 2 Father's day cards made and believe it or not, I have no male birthdays coming up.........But........I do have a friend that just got promoted to "Dean of Students" in his school district.  He works with me on a mentoring committee and I've gotten to know him pretty well over the last couple of years.  He was really excited about this position, so I think this card will work just perfectly for him!

You decide!!!

What's funny is that we just had a conversation about him having to learn how to text because his teenage daughters would rather him do that than call their cell phones.......so the Alpha Blocks came to the rescue with the "wtg!"  I'm just hoping they taught him what that stands for!  ;-)

I am really double tasking with this card.  Not only am I entering it into the PTI April Blog Hop, but I'm also using it for the April i{heart}2stamp Sketch Challenge to bring it all together.  I just love these sketches!  There is plenty of time if you want to enter into this one!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Alpha Blocks stamp set
Fillable Frames #3 stamp set
Background Basics: Twinkle stamp set
Star Prints stamp set
Communique Curves Sentiments stamp set (inside sentiment)

Black & White Squigglefly Monday Challenge!!!

It's an AMAZING Monday!!!
I have the day off
and
it's a Squigglefly Challenge Monday!!!

This week's challenge is "Black & White."
Well, I had a bit of a problem with that.......so, even though I did throw in a splash of color, it took all that I had not to color my images........lol

For today's challenge, I used Paulette Long's Baby Cameo digital images.
I just love how these turned out!

Aren't they totally adorable as a pair?  Just perfect for someone who was having boy/girl twins!

Click to enlarge.  I loved how the polka dots are in both the ribbon and the little petals of the flowers.

Just the inside

For this one I tried to do stripes in the panels and stripes on the ribbon.  Again, you can click to enlarge.

Just the inside of the little boy card.

I used the Verve April - Week 2 sketch below to pull everything together and it really made everything coordinate better than I had thought........Flower panels for the little girl and striped panels for the little boy.  Works perfectly for me!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Squigglefly Digital Images - Baby Cameos
Stamper's Select White & True Black cardstock
Inside & Out: Baby stamp set (inside sentiments)
Mambi Color Basics patterned paper - Black & White (boy card)
DCWV Mat Stack - Citrus (boy card)
Black & White Basics patterned paper (girl card)
Creative Memories patterned paper - Blooms (girl card)
Misc. black Ribbon
VersaFine - Onyx Black
Oriental Trading - Adhesive Pearls
Copic Markers - B14 & R85

I can't wait to see what you create using Black & White this week!

Frog Hop for my very first Verve Sketch Challenge!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

My very first Verve Sketch Challenge!!!
I don't have a single Verve stamp, although I really love many of their stamps.
I'm hoping that after the Easter break, I'll get a chance to put in an order.

So, their sketches are pretty detailed and I almost gave up when I saw the one for this week.
Honestly, I thought, how can I do this.  But then, I was reading Kim O'Connell's blog (love her blog!!!) and she had the tutorial for creating the starburst in the background.  And you know what?  It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be........In fact, I'd love to use it more often!

I remember seeing Nichole Heady's post withe the April reveal using the froggie stamp on felt......He came out just adorable doing this.  My Basic Grey paper was just made for this little dude!

This Verve sketch was such a fun, fun sketch to do!  I just had so much fun picking out the patterned paper that would work together.  This was the Verve's April - Week 4 Sketch.
I'll be back with the other 3 sketches (hopefully all by the 28th)!
Here is the one I used for this card:

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Boy Basics: Frog Hop stamp set
Basic Grey patterned paper - Hello Luscious
Kraft & Dark Chocolate cardstock
Tag Sale #3 die
Medium Scallop Border die

Engagement card!

Good Morning
and
Happy Saturday!!!

Just a quickie post with a quick card.  I made this at about 6:30 this morning and I'm taking it with me to my hair appointment.....lol  My hairstylist and dear friend's daughter got engaged and I haven't had the chance to tell her congratulations except for on Facebook.
I got my PTI April release stamps on Thursday and could not wait to use BB: Chevron Stripes!!!  Not sure if they are wedding/engagement type stamps, but they really worked nicely on this card.

I hope she likes it!

I think the Brilliance Silver ink was the perfect touch of elegance for an engagement card.

Just carrying the stripes through to the inside.

Background Basics: Chevron Stripes stamp set
Big & Bold Wishes stamp set
Inside & Out: Baby stamp set (inside sentiment)
Stamper's Select White & Royal Velvet cardstock

Easter card for My Mikes!

Happy Friday!
Let the Easter festivities begin!
Just a quick post because of a ton of things to get done for the holiday.

I made this card over the weekend for Easter, but scheduled it for today on my blog.  I didn't want to take the chance that Mike would see it too early.

Mike just loves these Ghirardelli chocolates.  In fact, his Easter basket was filled with several bags of them in all kinds of flavors.......along with some other goodies, of course.

The Copics used on the basket letters.

I don't have any Easter stamps besides this Bunny4Easter set from the {stamps} of life, so this was what I came up with using what I had.  It's difficult to make a nice, masculine Easter card......and I'm not quite sure that I even accomplished it.....lol

I combined challenges from The Sweet Sunday Sketch #113 Sketch Challenge and Off the Wall Craftiness #51 Color Challenge which was to use Easter colors.  Just perfect!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
the {stamps} of life - Bunny4Easter stamp set
Favor It Box 2 die
Lemon Tart and Kraft card stock
DCWV patterned paper - Citrus Stack
Tiny Tags die
Rustic Button Twine
Memento ink - London Fog
Stampin' Up texture folder - Lattice
Tim Holtz Distress ink - Dusty Concord, Crushed Olive, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey & Chipped Sapphire

Various colored eyelets
Unknown sheer lilac ribbon

Little Ladybug Full of Thanks!

Happy Hump Day!
Super busy day for me today, so I'm going to post and run!

I just love PTI's Little Lady stamp set.  She is just absolutely adorable!

I couldn't wait to use my new PTI Ribbon Tails stamp set and when I saw this sketch I knew that I wanted to use this on the bottom.  I had to heat emboss the "many thanks" sentiment so that it would show up, but it looks awesome.  I got the layout idea from Card Patterns #111 Sketch Challenge.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Ribbon Tails stamp set
Little Lady stamp set
Fillable Frames #1 stamp set (sentiment)
Pure Poppy & Stampers' Select White cardstock
VersaMagic ink - Red Magic

Butterfly Miracles!

Terrific Tuesday is in the house!!!
At least I hope it's terrific!!!

I have fallen in love with butterflies!!!  Not just any butterflies......
They are the butterflies in the Skipping Stones Always Here set.
They are just so beautiful and this card will prove it!

If you click to enlarge this picture, you will see all of the light blue tiny twinkles that I added to the wings.  They were the perfect size to add a little bling.

Inside sentiment that I'm totally loving for these Relay for Life cards.

Lots and lots of layers in this card which was inspired by my first sketch from The Sweet Shop!  I've been watching their blog because a fellow blogger uses their sketches quite frequently and I just had to get the right sketch from them to give it a try.

Honestly, I need lots of practice with these kinds of cards.  I'm a very C&S type stamper, and these type sketches make me really put my thinking cap on to make sure everything coordinates.

I paired it up with CR84FN's #24 Color Challenge.  These yummy colors were absolutely PERFECT for this card.  The teal and light blue just look awesome together.  The PTI colors of Spring Rain and Ocean Tides really pulled it together with DCWV's Cafe Mediterranean Mat Stack.  I think it's a match made in heaven.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Skipping Stones Design stamp sets - Always Here & Cancer Schmancer
DCWV patterned paper - Cafe Mediterranean mat stack
Ocean Tides, Spring Rain and Vintage Cream cardstock
Nestabilities - Classic Ovals Small & Classic Scalloped Ovals Small
Taylored Expressions - Tiny Twinkles in light blue and black
Beautiful Blooms II #3 dies
Small Scallop border die
Prima e. - Cream Pearls
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black
Studio G. ink - Light Teal (butterfly on inside top corner)

Squigglefly Challenge Monday!!!

Happy, Hoppy Monday!!!
Yep, Easter has me thinking of "hopping"..........which is what I will be doing this week in order to get ready for out-of-town company and Easter dinner.

Today is Challenge Day Monday and I'm thinking this one will really make you put your thinking caps on.....and it will give you some awesome ideas on how to use your digital images.

The theme????
The Squigglefly Workout!!!

Basically, we want you to show everyone how much you love your Squigglefly digital stamps by picking out YOUR favorite way to use them......whether you print them out and color them with Copics, combine images, make your own patterned paper, paper piecing or some other creative way that you know how to use digital stamps.  CLICK HERE to see the wonderful ways the DT uses their images and enter the challenge.

I have to say that, at first, I thought.......I usually just color them with Copics, but then I went back and looked at all of my Squigglefly cards (you can see all of them by using the index on the left.....I have a category called "Squigglefly") and I realized that I really like to "add" things to my images besides just coloring.  Now, I'm not talking embellishments on my card, I'm talking about adding things TO the image itself.

The image I used today is from the Baby Items collection drawn by Paulette Long.  If you love making baby cards, this set is for you.  You get 11 images for just $3.00!  That's a super price to make something this cute!  ;-)

Here's my card for this challenge to show you what I mean:
No coloring what-so-ever..........just Martha Stewart glitter!!!  You just have to click this image to see it full size!
When I saw this image, I knew I could finally use my tinsel glitter that I had gotten at Christmas time.  It was perfect for making the ducky's feathers.

I used a Q-Tip to spread the glue and started with the small areas first (the bow and beak).  After that glitter dried, I spread the glue over the large portions and then using the other side of the Q-Tip with the cotton removed, I pushed the glitter off of the lines that needed to show through (the wing, for example).  Just a tip.......after the glitter dries to the glue, spray the whole image with hairspray so that the glitter stays put.  Works like magic!

Isn't this the most perfect inside sentiment?

My ideas started flowin' when I saw the Clean and Simple #136 Sketch Challenge and thought that the little ducky would look perfect where the sentiment mat stack was.  Then because I was thinking "baby", I just had to use the Color Throwdown #137 Color Challenge.  The colors were just perfect for a little boy card.

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Squigglefly Digital Images - Baby Items
Martha Stewart glitter - Fire Opal & Tourmaline
Martha Stewart iridescent tinsel glitter - Lemon Drop
DCWV patterned paper - Summer Dream & Safari Kids
Taylored Expressions cardstock - Sunbeam (card base)
Lemon Tart cardstock (die cut sentiment frame)
Fillable Frames #11 stamp set and die
Round and Round stamp set (outside sentiment)
Inside & Out: Baby stamp set (inside sentiment)
Holiday Mix Vintage button
Studio G. ink - Teal
The Twinery bakers twine - Caribbean
Prima e. - black pearls (eyes)

So, remember that I said I like adding things to the images themselves???
I wasn't lying......lol  Take a look at some past cards!

Ummmmm........I've already admitted that I have a thing for buttons.
This sort of proves it!

I hope you enjoyed reading my post today.  Sorry for being so long winded.
Let's see how you do with this week's challenge!
