Get Well to my Matt!!! CPS Challenge Card

Good morning!
While you are reading this, I'm probably at school working with a great group of kiddos......
minus one!  One of the little boys in my class has been really, really sick and has missed about 2 weeks of school.  And I have to say......I MISS MY MATT!!!

Afterall........He is our "Post-It Note King" and has earned that title single-handedly by having more Post-It Notes than I do!  He uses them quite often to help remind me of things.
The other students and I miss his jokes, smile, quick remarks, and little dances (shhhhhhhh) more than he, we are sending him a huge envelope of cards.
This is the one I'm sending him!

I colored the sand and added the phrase on the sand pile digitally using PSPX.  If you click to enlarge it, you should see how cool it looks with a filter I used to give it some dimension.  The rest of the image is hand colored using Copics.

The kids know that chocolate is the "password" for my classroom and that it heals EVERYTHING.  But they also knows that it goes....."Straight to Mrs. Mino's hips!"  LOL  Oye!  The things I teach these little guys!

When I knew found the image I knew I needed a sketch that would be clean & simple.......Well, the CPS #211 Sketch Challenge definitely fit the bill.  All I needed was the correct "boyish" patterned paper to pull the whole thing off and Basic Grey made it work.

I really hope Matt is feeling better.  And, if not, I'm sure all of these cool cards from the kids and I are definitely going to bring a smile to his little face!  {Matt}

Healing Touch Sentiments stamp set
the {stamps} of life - GetWell2You stamp set

Christmas in March!!!

Yes.........I did say CHRISTMAS in March!

I think I mentioned in a previous post that I had a goal of making 8 Christmas cards a month, every month so that my holiday cards will be finished by October or November.

Well, I just discovered a blog that is going to really help me do that!!!  It's called:  Christmas Card Challenges and they host a weekly challenge where Christmas/Holiday cards are the focus!  I was so excited to find this that I also posted it on the PTI Christmas Card forum that a bunch of us are posting our cards, too.

I really got busy on Sunday of this past week and made all of the following cards!  This week's challenge was NO STAMPING!  At first, I thought that there was no way I could do this, but then I remembered that I had bought a bunch of embellishments at a "Scrap-the-day-away" event last October.  Not to mention some felt snowflakes that I bought from SU and then the vellum and stickers that came with some DCWV papers.  I also take Christmas cards from the past and take parts of them that I think will make nice additions to cards that I want to, ribbon, embellishments, stick-ons, etc......and some of the cards I made with these are among my favorites.

So, sit back and take a look at these Christmas cards!
I'm so excited at how many I made!

This is one of my favorites.  The tied leaves actually came off of a recycled card from last Christmas.  In fact, it came off the panel of the card on the left.  So, I just added the patterned paper to the one on the right and added the rub-on to the panel on the left!

Had these bubble type stickers to match the Imaginisce paper.

This one isn't my favorite.........but, I wanted to use those stickers!

Love these!  The paper has a canvas texture!
These vellum sentiments came with a pack of DCWV patterned paper......Might as well use them!

And my absolute favorite of the bunch!!!!

I cut these bulbs off of a card that I wanted to recycle.  No sentiment on the outside........but, look at the next photo for the inside...........

I added the cut out words to the inside for a sentiment!

I had such a blast making all of these on Sunday.  Yeah, I have some not too favorite ones, but I have several that I'm so proud of........AND......I got to use some of those stickers that were just sitting in my paper holders!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!

Baby Girl Card for C&S Challenge

I am so, so excited to share this new card with you!!!
Again, I'm breaking out the stamps I've received from PaperTrey Ink and their March release!
This post will feature the new Tiny Tags stamp set and die.

I've read over and over again on PTI's forum "how adorable" this set is......but, for me, this set is terrifing!!! Really!  It is!  Why?  Because the stamps ARE TINY!!!  I mean, how do you decorate the front of a card when they are less than inch in height or width???  Yeesh!  I know.......use them as TAGS like they are intended, Stephanie!!!  But, seriously, I wanted to decorate a card with them.

And I DID!!!
Look how cute!

I hope you can see the gorgeous shimmer on the pink cardstock.....if not, click to enlarge it because that picture is even better.

I have absolutely no sentiments for inside my "baby", this is what I came up with for this one.

I used a sketch challenge from Clean & Simple to get the ideas flowin' and how I ended up with a baby girl card, I have no idea.  In this sketch, I love how there is a smaller panel on the card base.  I thought it might allow your card base to really stand out.  And, since I hadn't used any of my PTI Shimmer cardstock, I went to all of the shimmers I had to pick a color.........The pink was "calling" me.  So after I picked the pink, all I could think of was "baby girl."

I was so surprised at how nice this shimmer cardstock is to use!  I mean, you can stamp on it easily (that was a big worry for me).......and the ink even dries very quickly on it......That means NO SMEARING.....because I do that a lot.

Now let's talk about a super neat discovery I made today.  I think many of us save every bit of PTI paper we get our hands on.......even the little inserts that come with our stamps.  Well, I discovered today that if you cut off the little fold over flap that you get with the $5 stamp sets (ie.....Tag It's, Think Big Favorites, Fillable Frames, etc.) that the larger portion left over is perfect for the inside panel of your I did in the card above!!!  It's perfect!  No trimming or waste from cutting up a whole sheet of cardstock!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Tiny Tags stamp set & die
Signature Greetings stamp set
Baby Button Bits stamp set (inside bear and sentiment)
Around & About stamp set (little hearts inside)
Pink Shimmer & Stamper's Select White cardstock
Taylored Expressions organdy ribbon -  White and Light Pink Swirl
Studio G. ink - Light and Dark Pink
VersaFine ink - Onyx Black
Recollections Jewel brads

Squigglefly Monday: Handmade Patterned Paper Challenge!

It's a Squigglefly Monday!!!
That means there is another new challenge for you this week!

This week's challenge is one of my favorites.......
making handmade patterned paper!

If you read my blog regularly, you know I just got a bunch of stamps from PTI's March release.  In that order, I had 2 sets of Basic Backgrounds......Gingham and Twinkle.  I am featuring/using the BB: Twinkle stamps for my card today.

I am so excited about the 3 new artists joining Squigglefly.  All of their first images are on the home page of ......... Did you know that new images are released EVERY Saturday???  That's what I get up early for on go look at the new digis!
Anyway, today's card is using new artist, Diane Knott's Baby Rocking Horse.  It is such a cute image and perfect for either baby boys or baby girls!

Here it is!

Isn't this rocking horse just adorable??

Just a close up of the bling and the patterned paper.

Since I wasn't sure when I'd be using this card, I didn't want to make just a pink or just a blue, I used both of those colors along with light green, yellow and purple.  I think this will allow the card to be used for either.......when the time arises.

I did alter the horsey a little bit.  Up by that light green polka dot near the head, I added a line with my .3 Copic Multiliner so that I could have an end to the blanket.  I couldn't figure out how to blend the horses head in brown to the blanket, so I just drew it  I'm no artist, but it was very easy to add that line.

For my background, I simply used the PTI BB: Twinkle to create 3 panels in the baby colors.  I was sure to put the green on top because that is a "neutral" baby color......then with the blue and pink side by side, I can give it to any mommy!  Of course, I was inspired by this sketch over at Inkspirations:  Click Here!

So, there you have it!
What are you going to create for the challenge over at the Squigglefly blog?
Will you be using one of the new releases???

I can't wait to see what you create this week!
Remember, you don't have to use a Squigglefly image on your card; but, if you do, you'll be eligible for a prize from Squigglefly.  Wouldn't you like a chance to win free images?

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Squigglefly Digital Images: Baby Rocking Horse
Background Basics: Twinkle stamp set
Simple Sentiments stamp set
Lemon Tart and Spring Moss cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress inks: Peeled Paint, Spun Sugar, and Tumbled Glass
Double Ended Banner die

Thank You card for Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Challenge

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I have a really sweet card for you today and I can't wait to share it with you.

This is only the second time I've entered the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Challenge because I'm so intimidated by the images and the creations that others make for these.

This trigger image, however, was different.  As soon as I saw it, I instantly thought SPRING!!!  We have had such a horrible winter that when I saw these bright and bold mind went right to spring.  I tried to carry the polka dots through the flowers by using PTI's Bitty Background Blocks stamp set on the die cut buttons using PTI's Buttoned Up #2 dies and colored cardstock.  They came out so perfect!

Here is the card I created for the challenge!

The inspiration of Spring and polka dots are what make this card so fun!

I just love how the inside of this turned out!

And so that you can see the image that was used for the Tuesday Trigger........
Aren't those colors just fun!

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Blooming Button Bits stamp set
Bitty Background Blocks stamp set
Round & Round stamp set (little flowers on the inside)
Gina K. - Lean on Me stamp set (flower stems)

DCWV - Green Tea Stack
Simply Chartreuse, Orange Zest and Snow White ink
VersaMagic ink - Thatched Straw
Double Ended Banner die & Buttoned Up #2 die

Introducing 3 NEW Artists at Squigglefly!!!

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!!!
I just love Saturdays!!!
They are what I call "My create-all-day Saturdays!"

They are even more fun and creative when Squigglefly introduces.......

I think you'll just love their work.

Diane Knott
Paulette Rich Long
Nate Owens

These three artists are debuting their awesome work TODAY at  So, as soon as you are done reading my post, head right over there and take a peek at all of the new images!

I have the great privilege of introducing one of Nate Owens' images called Doxie Butterfly.
This cute little Doxie is going to just tug on your heartstrings right away!!!

What I love most about this image is that all the detail shading makes this image so easy to color.......whether you are a novice or a pro.......this image will look awesome when you color it.

I got to use cork for the very first time!  For some reason, after coloring this cutie, it was screaming to use it........and it really, really worked wonderfully here.  See that linen vellum strip (click to super enlarge this picture so you can see the linen look)?  I colored it using a Copic so that it would bring out the green polka dots in the patterned paper.  And, finally........I colored the background of this panel with a Ivory (E81) Copic and it took on a marbling effect.  Must be the cardstock causing that look, but I just love it.

Isn't that sentiment just screaming FUN?

All of the Copics used for this Doxie, background and vellum.

Materials Used:
Squigglefly Digital Images - Doxie Butterfly
the {stamps} of life - Butterfly2Build
Basic Grey patterned paper - Life of the Party
PTI - Blueberry Sky cardstock
MFT - Cork sheets
PTI - Linen Vellum (colored with Copics)
Memento ink - Rich Cocoa
Copic Markers

That's all I have for you today, but make sure you check out all of the images today at Squigglefly!

Thanks for taking a look!

Sweet Pea for the Mojo Monday & CR84FN Challenges!

Happy, Happy Friday to ya!!!
I'm so very happy to have the weekend begin today at 4:00!!!

Just a quick post as I have scheduled this to post last night and there's only 10 minutes before American Idol is

I have been dabbling with some of my new stamps from PTI's March release.  I just love the Background Basics: Gingham stamps that I got and had to practice lining them up.......Not to shabby for my 2nd try.

Looking at this photo, I should have had the pea and sentiment a little lower on the white panel.

I used several challenges for this card.  Mojo Monday's #183 Sketch Challenge and CR84FN's #20 Color Challenge

Materials Used (All PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Baby Button Bits stamp set
Background Basics: Gingham stamp set
Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon, Royal Velvet and Stamper Select white cardstock
Royal Velvet and Simply Chartreuse felt

Another Birthday card for 365 Cards Challenge!

Thursday is in the house!!!
Yep!  Just 1 more day until the weekend begins!

I am so excited about this card!  It is ANOTHER birthday card!  Are you surprised?  LOL  So, why am I so excited about it???  Because I inked up my new PTI Background Basics: Newsprint stamps and I just love the result.  I got this set and was worried about how I would incorporate it on cards and this is just one way that I can see it used often.

The focal image came in the patterned paper book and I just cut it out and the matting going around it.  It looks so nice on top of the brown and cream matted background.

I think the Newsprint stamps make this look like professional paper.......not hand-stamped!

Just a cute cupcake and sentiment on the inside.

I used a sketch from 365 Cards.  It's their Day 20 challenge and it worked perfectly for this card.

Materials Used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
Background Basics: Newsprint stamp set
Big Birthday Wishes stamp set (inside sentiment)
2011 Birthday Tags (cupcake inside)
Raspberry Fizz cardstock
My Mind's Eye patterned paper - Summer Papers
Taylored Expressions cardstock - Chablis
Studio G. ink - Hot Pink
Dark Chocolate satin ribbon
VersaFine ink - Vintage Sepia

Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!

but, the weekends are when I get to create the, that's what I can't wait for!

Today, I have another birthday card.  I have really been making many of those, lately.  I guess you can never have too many on hand, right?

You can't tell from the photo, but the brown patterned paper is velvety plush......SOOOO fun!!!  It's from My Mind's Eye and it's in the Lush collection.  It's so much more pretty in person than in this photo.

I just loved these butterflies when I saw them at Michael's.

I had to add some butterflies to the inside, too!

Daffodil Birthday card for Gina K. Color Challenge & CPS Sketch Challenge

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I can't wait to share this new card with all of you, today.  I got some new Basic Grey patterned paper and I'm just loving it!  Several of my cards this week will be featuring it.

I just love my Year of Flower stamps (YOF for short) that I bought from PTI, but I don't use them nearly enough.  I'm guessing that it's mainly due to intimidation in coloring them with Copic markers.  So, I figured out that paper-piecing is the way to go with these.

I stamped the flowers on the patterned paper with VersaFine's Vintage Sepia.  Then I used Filigree clear embossing powder to really make it stand out.  I did the same for the stem/leaves and the sentiment on the front.  It really gave an extra special look.  Hand cutting all of the flowers took some time.......I really am hoping that PTI will have dies for these soon!  ;-)

You have to click to enlarge in order to see the wood-grain on the patterned paper.  It's so, so gorgeous!

I just love the dimension these little flowers give the card with some foam tape.

I love this birthday phrase on the inside.

I did use Gina K.'s Color Challenge this week, along with CPS #201 Sketch Challenge.

Materials used (all PTI, unless otherwise noted):
YOF: Daffodils stamp set
Birthday Basics stamp set (front sentiment)
Signature Greetings stamp set (inside sentiment)
Basic Grey patterned paper - Life of the Party
Gina K. Pure Luxury cardstock - Grass Green
Fine Linen cardstock
DCWV patterned paper - Cotton Bloom Stack
VersaFine ink - Vintage Sepia
Filigree embossing powder - Clear
Copic markers - YG17, YG23, YG25

Thanks for taking a look today.
I appreciate all of your comments more than you know......
so, thank-you for those, too!
